Distillery Using Social Media to Start Up

A Chicago distillery is using Kickstarter, an online donation program, to get their small distilling project off the ground running. Their goal: Raise $25,000 in the next 35 days.

Tailwinds Distilling Company is the realized dream of Toby Beall, who originally intended to become a brewer. Travel sucked him into island time though, and he returned to the states to become a rum distiller instead. Toby and his team are asking for funds to buy aging barrels and to complete the construction of their tasting room. If they don’t reach their goal of $25,000 by June 29th, they wont receive any of the funds pledged on the site. Currently they sit at $892.
