Bacardi’s Toasting its 150th Anniversary with a Special Rum
Bacardi is one of the world’s top-selling rums, and famous consumers, including Papa Doble himself, Ernest Hemingway, have endorsed it. Still family-owned, the company is celebrating its 150th birthday in grandiose style: releasing a limited-edition rum (the Ron Bacardi de Maestros de Ron) that has been aged for 20 years. Eight master blenders, all related to founder Don Facundo Bacardi Masso, had a hand in creating this rare dark rum.
To add even more value to the vintage rum, Bacardi is bottling it in a hand-blown crystal decanter. The average consumer, however, will have very little luck getting their hands on a bottle. Only 200 bottles are being sold on the market, and they are going for $2,000.
