Greenhook Ginsmith’s, a Brooklyn-based gin distillery, are putting stateside twists on traditional English spirits. The distillery’s initial offering, the American Dry gin, was distilled using domestic ingredients. Their newest concoction is a fruity variation of the traditional English sloe gin liqueur and features locally harvested beach plums from Briermere Farms in Riverhead, New York. Company owner Steven DeAngelo calls it “the world’s first ever commercially released Beach Plum Gin Liqueur.”

Beach plums grow on the East coast from Maine to Maryland and are only in season from August to early September. Greenhook’s Beach Plum Gin Liqueur is only available in New York State for a limited time. For those non-New Yorkers, it’s also available online at Astor Wines & Spirits and various other retailers.
