THL: What is it?

Troy & Sons Platinum Whiskey Moonshine is distilled from Crooked Creek Corn, an heirloom variety that comes from North Carolina.

THL: Why should you try it?

This whiskey is considered by some to be authentic American moonshine because of the origin of the corn distilled to make it. Crooked Creek Corn was first grown in the 1840s and used to make some of the first whiskeys ever crafted in the United States. Hybrid corn varieties used today yield more corn per bushel, but Troy & Sons opted for quality over quantity.

THL: Who makes it?

Troy & Sons is one of the only distilleries in the United States owned and operated by a woman: Troylyn Ball. She is an ultra runner and the mother of three sons. She works with her husband Charlie Ball and brewer Charlie Wong under the Troy & Sons label.

THL: What does it taste like?

Vanilla, oak

THL: How should you drink it?

Sip this spirit neat — it will come out of a limited, numbered bottle and it's made from rare ingredients. Savor it solo.
