THL: What is it?

Dutch's Spirits Sugar Wash Moonshine an atypical American moonshine, most of which are distilled from corn. This un-aged spirit was made with 100% pure Demerara sugar.

THL: Why should you try it?

Beneath Harvest Homestead Farm in Hudson Valley, New York, mobster Dutch Schultz was the owner and operator of a huge distillery, producing thousands of gallons of moonshine during the 1930s. This spirit, says the distillery, is a nod to the moonshines that Dutch used to make in his underground lair.

THL: Who makes it?

Dutch's Spirits is one of New York's many craft distilleries. It was originally built about 80 years ago. The distillery is now on the New York State Archaeological Inventory list and eligible for status as a state and national historic site.

THL: What does it taste like?

Maple, butterscotch
