Spencerfield Pig’s Nose Blended Malt Scotch Whisky
THL: What is it?
Spencerfield Pig’s Nose Blended Malt Scotch Whisky is a blend of Speyside, Islay and Lowland malts aged five years in first-fill oak casks.
THL: Why should you try it?
Pig’s Nose Scotch Whisky is the creation of Richard Patterson, Scotland’s only third generation master blender. This blend was created as a “week-day whisky.” Spencerfield's Sheep Dip Whisky, made from an older blend of whiskies, was designed for special occasions. The whisky gets its name from Paterson’s friend who, after sampling the whisky responded, “as soft and smooth as a pig’s nose.” This is typical of Speyside style whiskies and a pig everyone can enjoy.
THL: Who makes it?
The Spencerfield Spirit Company is a family-run distillery located near the Firth of Forth in Scotland. It was founded by the former marketing manager of Glenmorangie, who now runs Spencerfield from a 16th-century farmhouse with his wife. They distill Edinburgh Gin, Sheep Dip Blended Malt Scotch Whisky, and Sheep Dip Old Hebridean 1990.
