THL: What is it?
This rustic spirit is distilled with organic anise, birch bark, cloves and cardamom, spearmint and citrus.
THL: Why should you try it?
When you're sipping Root, you might as well be sitting in the forest. Appropriately named, it is made out of 100 percent organic ingredients. It's herbal scent and earthy taste isn't overpowering like many absinthes tend to be, making it the perfect starter spirit if you're trying to get into absinthe and other apertifs.
THL: Who makes it?
Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction is responsible for this product's cutting-edge branding, while Root and it's sisters Ruby and Snap are distilled by Modern Spirits, which is owned by Greenbar Collective based in California. Greenbar, and subsequently Modern and Art in the Age, is know for its organic spirits and vigilant green practices.
THL: What does it taste like?
earth, mushroom, caramel, mint
THL: How should you drink it?
Raiz Aneja (Old Root)
1-1/2 parts of Aged Tequila
3/4 parts of Root
1/2 parts lemon juice
1/2 parts agave nectar
1/2 parts pineapple juice
Mix all ingredients together in a shaker. Shake, and serve on the rocks. Garnish with a sugar cane.
