THL: What is it?
Ridge Extrait d'Absinthe Verte is distilled using grand wormwood, green anise, fennel, coriander, angelica, elecampane, melissa and roman wormwood with a grain spirit base.
THL: Why should you try it?
This true-to-style spirit is reminiscent of classic French absinthes, including the three essential absinthe ingredients (wormwood, anise and fennel). One sip gives you a full range of its earthy botanicals that grow in the Rocky Mountain alpine terroir. It's clear that these distillers are really passionate about their garden — this absinthe is intensely herbal.
THL: Who makes it?
Inspired to grow their own herbs to make tea, Jules and Joe started an herb garden and quickly realized they were also growing ingredients to make gin and absinthe. So that's what they did. They operate their small distillery in the Rocky Mountains of Kalispell, Montana.
THL: What does it taste like?
Pine, violet, cinnamon, marshmallows
THL: How should you drink it?
The heavy dose of herbs in this spirit make it a perfect one to blend into absinthe-based cocktails. The distillers of Lucid Absinthe recommend a vintage drink, the '75 Cocktail, that will tame the wild herbs dominating this spirit.
2 dashes Ridge Absinthe Verte
1 tsp grenadine
2 ounce calvados
1 ounce dry gin
Add ingredients and ice into a cocktail shaker, and shake vigorously before pouring into a chilled coupe glass.
