THL: What is it?
OMG Pure Rye is an un-aged whiskey distilled from a mash that is 80% rye and 20% malted rye. It's made in the tradition of Monongahela regional whiskeys from the 1800s, renowned for their quality.
THL: Why should you try it?
While this whiskey does create an oh-my-god-that-is-so-good flavor, it's not named for the acronym made popular by text and instant messaging. It's actually a tribute to a style of whiskey known in the 1800s as Old MononGahela rye. Many of America's distillers settled along the Monongahela river in Western Pennsylvania, and sent their whiskey all over the country. It quickly became an American favorite.
THL: Who makes it?
High West is a distillery that you can literally ski up to from Park City's infamous mountain peaks. Owner David Perkins is a retired biochemist from California.
THL: What does it taste like?
Malty, earthy Scotch
