THL: What is it?
Midleton Very Rare Irish Whiskey is Ireland’s premier luxury spirit, with only 50 casks released each year. It was first introduced in 1984 as a tribute to the distillers of Midleton. Each year is considered its own vintage with slight variations according to the Master Blender’s whim. It is crafted with a selection of triple distilled whiskeys that have been aged from 12 to 25 years in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks.
THL: Why should you try it?
This is the Irish whiskey you’ve been waiting for all your life. Midleton Very Rare Irish Whiskey is arguably the best whiskey to ever come out of Ireland, and for those lucky enough to experience it, each sip is destined to be a lifelong memory.
Each bottle of Midleton Very Rare Irish Whiskey is signed and numbered by the Master Blender and comes in a gift-worthy wooden case.
THL: Who makes it?
Middle Very Rare is produced by the Irish Distillers in the East Cork town of Midleton, Ireland. In 1966, three distilleries — Jameson, Powers, and Cork Distilleries — joined forces to become Irish Distillers. They produce, among others: Jameson, Redbreast, Paddy, Midleton, Powers, Crested Ten, and Powers 12 Year Old Special Reserve.
THL: What does it taste like?
It’s hard to describe what heaven tastes like, but you can detect flavors of smoked candied orange, nectar of the gods, and orange blossom honey accompanied by feelings of transcendence and self-actualization.
THL: How should you drink it?
Sorry, no. No cocktails for this hooch. If you must, add a drop of water. Only if you must...
