THL: What is it?
Leopold Bros. Cherry Liqueur is full of flavor - real cherry flavor, not artificial. Whether in a cocktail or over a stack of pancakes, there are numerous ways to enjoy this rich, balanced liqueur.
THL: Why should you try it?
When you taste this, you can almost see the taut, ruby skin on the Montmorency cherries from northern Michigan, which are used to make this liqueur. These stone fruits offer the perfect balance between tart and sweet. Plus, it’s the winner of the 2010 World Spirits Competition of Cherry Liqueurs.
THL: Who makes it?
Leopold Bros. is a small, family owned distillery that also produces American Gin, American Whiskey, Alpine Herbal Liqueur, Absinthe Verte, and Blackberry Liqueur. The owners, brothers Todd and Scott, have backgrounds in brewing beer and environmental engineering, which equates to both refined and eco-friendly distilling practices.
THL: What does it taste like?
dark cherry, wood
THL: How should you drink it?
Make yourself the classic of classics: the Aviation. Combine Michigan Tart Cherry Liqueur with gin, lemon juice, and simple syrup. You can hold the Violette with this cocktail, and enjoy the tartness of the cocktail playing well with the gin. Lean back, and imagine yourself flying away with the Aviation.
