THL: What is it?
Jura Prophecy is a Single Malt peated Scotch whisky from the Isle of Jura. Jura is right next to the Isle of Islay, where many other peated Scotch whiskies are made.
THL: Why should you try it?
Jura Prophecy is the creation of the world-renowned whisky blender, Richard Paterson, the Master Blender for Whyte & Mackay. The whisky is a powerful combination of smoke and peat that strikes a nice balance between a typical Jura whisky and a brinier Islay whisky. It serves as a perfect gateway whisky for either camp looking to explore new territory.
THL: Who makes it?
Jura Prophecy is produced at Jura Distillery, on the Isle of — you guessed it — Jura. The name and design of the bottle comes from a tale in the 1700s when Clan Campbell ruled the Isle of Jura. A seer of the time predicted that the last Campbell would leave the island with a missing eye and all his possessions pulled behind him by a white horse. The prophecy came true two centuries later when Charles Campbell, having lost an eye in WWII, left the island with his white horse and all of his belongings.
THL: What does it taste like?
Smoked wood, buckwheat honey, pancakes
THL: How should you drink it?
Neat.
