THL: What is it?

Hangar One Chipotle Vodka, distilled with purple morita chiles, was created with bloody marys in mind.

THL: Why should you try it?

Pepper-infused vodkas are not uncommon as they are one of the easiest to make at both bars and at home, but many result in a one-dimensional flavor or overpowering heat. Hangar One strikes the perfect balance with their Chipotle Vodka.

Hangar One master distiller Lance Winters credits the complexity of his Chipotle Vodka to a tiny purple pepper from Chihuahua called the purple morita. The purple morita produces an extraordinary range of flavors that, when infused with a blend of jalapeños, red bells and habaneros, result in the flavor Lance was searching for when he first sough to craft a spirit for the perfect Bloody Mary cocktail.

THL: Who makes it?

What began as a limited edition batch for Hangar One’s “Tasting Room Series” at St. George Spirits, was quickly swept up as demand outpaced supply. Since that time, Hangar One has tripled production, and the vodka can now be purchased across the county. Hangar One Chipotle Vodka makes excellent spicy vodka cocktails, but you don’t have to limit yourself to libations. Try seasoning your next batch of ceviche or other seafood that would benefit from a spicy kick, and serve with the cocktail recommended below.

THL: What does it taste like?

Hangar One Chipotle Vodka is both smoky and spicy, with vegetal flavors that will please both tequila drinkers and pepper lovers.

THL: How should you drink it?

The Chipotle Collins from Kevin Thompson of the Wendy Williams Show was the most popular Chipotle Vodka cocktail from a recent comment on Hangar One’s Facebook Page . This simple twist on the Tom Collins is a great way to beat the summer heat.
