THL: What is it?
DonQ is a classic style rum from Puerto Rico that is produced in the traditional Cuban style, aged for one to three years, and then filtered to remove the color.
THL: Why should you try it?
This spirit is deceptively clear (hence the Cristal name), as it actually has been aged for between 1 and 3 years before it is filtered, which removes the color but retains the mature flavor of an aged rum. The resulting rum is light-bodied but with a greater depth of flavor than other clear rums in the same price range. Don Q is a great rum to bridge the gap between silver rums and aged rums without taking the full smoky sweet plunge.

Don Q Rum is produced by Distileria Serrales. They also produce Don Q Gold, Don Q Anejo, Don Q Gran Anejo, and Don Q flavored rums.

molasses, nutmeg, vanilla, cinnamon
THL: How should you drink it?
Don Q Cristal Rum has a nice, crisp, white sugar flavor and blends well in simple fruit cocktails.
Cranberry Mojito
muddled fresh whole cranberries
2 ounces DonQ Cristal Rum
3/4 ounce fresh lime juice
1/2 ounce agave nectar
Top with club soda, and garnish with a lime wheel.
