THL: What is it?
Del Maguey Chichicapa Mezcal is produced in the village of Chichicapa in Oaxaca, Mexico.
THL: Why should you try it?
All of the mezcals in the Del Maguey portfolio are certified organic, and each expression is made from agave grown in a different small village. Del Maguey Chichicapa is produced with agave grown in Chichicapa in a mountain range of Oaxaca, Mexico at an elevation of over 6,000 feet. The agave plants are surrounded by tropical fruit trees yielding bananas, guavas, and mangoes, and the distiller works to capture the essence of this landscape in his remarkable mezcal. Lovers of smoky Scotch will have a newfound appreciation for agave spirits after one sip of Chichicapa mezcal, and possibly a new favorite bottle to grace their shelves.
THL: Who makes it?

The Del Maguey, Ltd. portfolio also includes Del Maguey Mezcal Vida de San Luis del Rio, Del Maguey Minero, Del Maguey Domingo Albarradas, and Del Maguey Pechuga.
THL: What does it taste like?
Smoked seaweed, grilled pineapple, tropical fruit
THL: How should you drink it?
Del Maguey Chichicapa has the complexity of a rich single-malt scotch, and should be experienced neat at least once. Like scotch, when mixed properly, it can also result in a fantastic cocktail. Ryan Fitzgerald of Beretta, San Francisco, California plays off the mezcal’s sweetness with the Hermitage cocktail.

3/4 ounce Dubonnet Rouge
3 dashes Bitter Truth Grapefruit Bitters
