Copper Fox Rye Whiskey
THL: What is it?
Copper Fox Rye Whiskey is made with hand-smoked malt aged with new and used apple wood and oak chips inside used bourbon barrels.
THL: Why should you try it?
Most rye is dry and astringent, but Copper Fox distiller Rick Wasmund wanted something unique. Inspired by the way Scotch distillers smoke their barley with peat, Wassmund decided to smoke his whiskey with apple wood. The apple smokiness and cherry undertones make this rye one of the most unique rye whiskeys on the market.
THL: Who makes it?
Rick Wasmund owns Copper Fox Distillery in Sperryville Virginia. He also makes Wasmund's Single Malt Whiskey, and un-aged whiskey that can be aged in mini-barrels that the distillery sells.
THL: What does it taste like?
Savory, smoky, orange peel, spice
THL: How should you drink it?
Try this rye for a fresh take in a Sazerac cocktail.
