THL: What is it?

Charbay Vodka Clear is a blend of American Midwest corn and rye distilled to 192 proof before it is filtered for purity.

THL: Why should you try it?

Charbay Winery in California's Napa Valley began crafting their portfolio of distilled spirits in 1983 on an alembic copper pot still, known today among visitors as "The Still on the Hill." This spirit is made on Spring Mountain above St. Helena, where Master Distiller Miles Karakasevic is passing on the distilling tradition to his son, Marko, who will be the 13th generation Master Distiller in the family's long European heritage of distilling. Needless to say, this vodka is a rare treat.

THL: Who makes it?

Father and son Miles and Marko Karakasevic do the distilling and winemaking at this family-run operation. Miles and his wife Jenni own the facility in Napa Valley where they work closely with Marko and his wife Susan. They produce seven kinds of vodka, including Ruby Red Grapefruit, Meyer Lemon, Blood Orange and Green Tea, as well as tequila, whiskey, rum, liqueur, brandy, grappa, and pastis.

THL: What does it taste like?

Round, smooth, and full-bodied, without any bite

THL: How should you drink it?

Charbay recommends drinking their Clear vodka in a crisp, dry Vodka Martini.
