THL: What is it?

Amerique Absinthe Verte is a traditional absinthe that is distilled with anise, grande wormwood, and fennel. It is then infused with botanicals to give it its green color.

THL: Why should you try it?

This is a great bottle of absinthe to buy if you haven't yet proclaimed your undying love for the spirit. It is less expensive at only 375mL, and it embodies the elements of a classic absinthe — it tastes strongly like anise and cinnamon. This absinthe is also extremely hot to taste, so it will go a long way used sparingly in cocktails and as a rinse. Amerique absinthes come in storage containers to maintain the color of the spirits (which tend to fade after its natural coloring process).

THL: Who makes it?

Great Lakes Distillery crafts this absinthe and its pink sister, Amerique Absinthe Rogue. Great Lakes was the first distillery in Wisconsin since prohibition and the founder, Guy Rehorst, was influential in changing state laws to allow for distilleries to sample their products and sell their own bottles.

THL: What does it taste like?

Licorice, cinnamon

THL: How should you drink it?

Use this absinthe as a wash for a Sazerac.
