There’s a lot more to rum than Strawberry Daiquiris and Pina Coladas. And while the Caribbean is well known for its rum production, quality rum is being made almost everywhere these days — even right here in America. Most rum is made from molasses, which comes from refining sugarcane. Brazilian Cachaca and France’s Rhum Agricole are made directly from the juice of the sugar cane. Now many rums are barrel-aged (similar to whiskey), and are at their best enjoyed neat, with a couple rocks, or with a splash of water.
