American Rye
Believed to be America’s first aged whiskey, rye was most likely the base ingredient in many of the classic whiskey cocktails. Made of at least 51% rye, it’s typically more spicy, a little bitter and seriously bold. More and more distillers are making a high-quality rye, given the return to popularity of classic cocktails and big flavors. To make a truly classic Old Fashioned, Sazerac, or Manhattan, you need a good rye whiskey. The Hooch Bartenders have plenty of recommendations for good rye whiskey and they share them with you here, on The Hooch Life. Warning: Rye seduction is likely to ensue.
