Salty Dog Drink Recipe

How to Make

Combine ingredients in a short tumbler filled with ice.

Salt Rim: Pour salt onto rimmer or plate. Cut a slit in the middle of the lemon or lime wedge and circle the outside of the tumbler rim with it. Turn the outside of the glass through the salt.

Makes one drink:

  • 1-1/2 oz Vodka
  • Grapefruit Juice

Garnish

Kosher Salt Rim, 1 Lemon or Lime Wedge

There's a little dissension on the origin of this one. Gin or Vodka, Vodka or Gin. Use whichever one you like the best. The argument for using fresh squeezed juice is glaringly apparent here. If you can do it, you really, really should. A bartender friend of mine who could sling drinks olympically, drinks this as her post-shift drink of choice. Refreshing, quick and just a little bit salty — just like a great bartender should be.
