Millionaire Cocktail

How to Make

Add ingredients to a mixing glass, and shake with the spring from a Hawthorne strainer. Use both arms, and shake until they ache. Add ice, and shake once more, this time for about eight seconds. The dry shake is crucial as this is how the egg is most evenly dispersed, resulting in good froth and even flavor. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

The Millionaire stands out as a great example of what one can create branching out from the standard sour formulae. By using grenadine and curacao instead of simple syrup (or sour mix, God forbid), two new layers present themselves right off the bat to add complexity of flavor. Don't skimp on the curacao, especially if you're not making your own grenadine. Also, make your own grenadine.
