Eggnog

Eggnog Cocktail Recipe

How to Make

Separate the egg whites from the egg yolks, and place in a mixing bowl. In a punch bowl, beat the yolks until they are almost white, adding half of the sugar as you beat. Stir in the rum, bourbon, cream, milk, and half of the grated nutmeg berry. When you are ready to serve, beat the egg whites with the other half cup of sugar. Pour the mixture slowly into the punch bowl while stirring. Place this bowl in a larger one or pan with ice in it to keep out for serving. Garnish with light dusting of fresh nutmeg on each serving.

Real eggnog is a treat that we see all too seldom anymore. It also recalls the spirit of communal drinking by putting forth a recipe that serves six. Eggnog from a punch bowl makes for a good way to spend an evening. If you have time, age the 'nog for a few weeks, and it will really marry the flavours together.
