Cosmos existed before "Sex in the City." Gasp. No really, it's true. There are, at the very least, four different people that lay claim to it's creation. I feel like the San Francisco connection could probably hold the most weight. The Avenue Grille in Denver is modeled loosely on a San Fran bar/restaurant. This type of bar was made famous in the 80s, hailed as a "yuppie" or "fern" and served drinks such as Lemon Drops, Harvey Wallbangers and, yep, Cosmopolitans. We turned out hundreds of happy hour Cosmos there, and, trust me, you can learn how to make these drinks quickly. Resist the urge to put too much cranberry in it. Let your choice of flavored vodka influence the overall taste as you like it, and mix it up: citrus, ginger, passionfruit, grapefruit.
