Bartender Stories

John Manwaring

When my roommate told me she was making Daiquiris, I didn’t know what to expect. I was 19 and more than happy with a bottle of cheap vodka. When I saw her dump flavored rum and a bottle of pink nonsense into a blender, some instinct within me screamed out in protest. I had only a vague notion of what a Daiquiri was, but knew that something with red dye and artificial sweetener had to be wide of the mark. A daiquiri, as a daiquiri should, be is light, tart, and refreshing.
