About the Contributor

Based in Rochester, NY Jimmy Day splits his time between still and motion photography, focusing most on commercial and documentary clients. His work delicately balances a polished commercial look with a sense of realness and sincerity.

He got his start as a grip for commercial and narrative films in Boston, MA in 2004 while attending college at Fitchburg University. He later served as Staff Photographer at the Office of the Governor (Deval Patrick). Now with B.Sc degree in hand he shoots and produces for a variety of companies and organizations including the Smithsonian Institution, George Eastman House, Center for Tropical Forest Science, The Annenburg Foundation and local businesses in Rochester and nation-wide.

With a love for physical stimuli, Jimmy’s work with the Smithsonian has found him hanging precariously from weather towers in Panama and rappelling more than a mile under ground in Lead, South Dakota to document instruments detecting dark matter in outer space. He has run the Boston Marathon, biked from Boston to LA in less than 5 weeks to raise money for a friend living with ALS, and toured as a semi-professional skateboarder in his early 20′s.
